Cooking Vinyl Music is the sister company to Cooking Vinyl Records and like the label, fiercely independent. The music publishing company has been around for a few years but until now it is fair to say it has not focused on the signing and development of writers and artists. That has now changed with Paul Kinder joining the company as Managing Director.
Paul has been in the music business for 25 years initially working in record companies mainly independent labels including his own. The Compact Organisation and later The Ghetto recording Company. In 1992 he joined the Virgin Records A&R department eventually becoming Director of A&R. During his time in the record business Paul has worked with many artists including, Scott Walker, Heatwave, Fairground Attraction Mari Wilson, Culture Club, XTC, Genesis, Steve Winwood, Joe Jackson, ROC,,Unbelievable Truth, Dreadzone, Shack, The Lightning Seeds Malcolm Maclaren, Chemical Brothers, The Spice Girls, Daft Punk and many others.
After leaving Virgin Records in 1998 Paul joined Chrysalis Music Publishing, the largest independent music publisher in the UK. Paul joined as head of A&R . After two years Paul was made European Director of A&R responsible for implementing the expansion of Chrysalis across Europe. Paul oversaw all creative decisions in Europe together with the local MD/A&R.
As well as running the European operation Paul continued to sign writers in the UK including Rod Temperton, Roots Manuva, The Dears, Field Music,Wheat,Clientele, Clearlake, The Bug, Caribou Ben Cullum, 23 Skidoo among others.
Paul Left Chrysalis in the summer of 2008 and joined Martin Goldshmidt and the Cooking Vinyl team to run the publishing company in the autumn of 2008.
